Seamless Branching Beta

Now that we are getting very few bug reports from the bread and butter applications of DVDAfterEdit, perhaps it is time to revisit Seamless Branching, aka Seamless Multi-Story, to see if perhaps some Authoring application(s) might produce usable multiplexed assets under some known conditions.

The difficulties we've encountered have mostly had to do with the fact that audio is not measured in the same units as video, and never quite lines up. What each given authoring application does at the boundaries has not yet been identified, but many of these situations produce input which we are unable to decipher and reprocess correctly.

Our original goal with SMS was to be able to automatically interleave any legal assets we might encounter. This has proven to be impractical, given our programming resources and the other demands on those resources. But perhaps some rules can be established for one or more authoring systems that might lead to a practical solution to these problems.

If you are interested in participating in these beta experiments, please respond to this post, and I will add you to the beta list. Those on the list will be able to download a version of the program with the SMS interface code reinstated. This program will be for Mastering Edition owners only.

Disclaimer - This effort will be supported at a lower priority than normal business.
