Hi Guys,
We have built up a small room of DVD players for testing (mainly PAL). And we have been noticing that about 15% of these players don't produce a 0 or maximum value when you mod a random number generated from 65535.
Did I miss something?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Rodney
Hi Julien,
For a mod 100,
These players are giving 1 - 99.
Thanks for your help.
Rodney
do these players are faulty
do these players are faulty without any MOD too ?
I mean, did you test without the "MOD fix", just RAN 99 for example ?
another precison : do you mean that if you do MOD 100 on your RAN, you never have neither 0 or 99 ?
Maybe Gotcha,
Hi Ian,
It's difficult to tell. I am assuming that the scenario is that these players are either not generating the top or bottom quadrant of random numbers.
I was aware that some players were not capable of generating the bottom quadrant of numbers (so that once modulo had been performed couldn't generate a 0), but the top quadrant of numbers no. Are they faulty mods, or faulty randoms. I am assuming faulty modulos as the remaining numbers can be generated.
Irritating thats all. Especially when you are masking answered questions.
It means some punters miss out on a percentage of questions altogether.
Cheers
Rodney
Hi Rodney, I assume you've
Hi Rodney,
I assume you've seen "gotcha" no.9, here ? Or are you saying something else ?
