Replace VTS but keep original Subtitles

Hi,
I'm wondering if AE or a combo of AE with other programs can successfully rip existing subtitles from a VTS and put them in another VTS.

What I'm trying to do:

Take a VTS from an existing dvd, fix a shot, and replace the old VTS with the new.
All without losing the original subtitle information.

I've used mpeg streamclip to extract the desired video and edit it. Created my m2v's and ac3's. Built a new fake project in Studio Pro 4. Replaced the old VTS with the new. The new is the exact duration as the old.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Kyle

SubRip

Hi Kyle,

You can try a PC application called SubRip - this has worked well for me in the past. If you specify that it should save the subtitles in DVD Maestro format, DVDSP should be able to import them. So, to achieve what you want, all you need to do is re-build the VTS in DVDSP, including chapters and the ripped subtitles, then build and replace as you have already done. There is a little more info on SubRip in my article on edting menus, here. Although it is focused on extracting button highlights, the general principles are the same.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Ian
