This is the first beta release under the new name. It is made at this time in order to discover any problems that might occur because of the name change, and it fixes a couple of things. The program is available here:

Folks -

I just read the release notes etc and I came away a bit confused about where this leaves those of us who've purchased the existing product. Let me see if I understand this juncture correctly.

It sounds to me like you are creating a version of the 3.0 product that doesn't include pre-mastering and S-B so you can rev 2.x. This will be the "Pro" product and the price will be $499. Purchasing it will not put the buyer into the Mastering Edition beta program.

Beta testing and developement of the version that we've been using (Mastering Edition) will continue - with pre-mastering and S-B support. Beta testers (i.e. purchasers of the original product and new purchasers of the Mastering Edition) remain in the existing program and and are otherwise unaffected (except perhaps by the name change).

Is this summary right?

Hi Michael,

Yes, you've stated it well. The intention is to change nothing for the current program owners, as much as possible. But the purchasers of the lower-priced version must also have access to the site, which is built on a purchased code base that has only two kinds of users - members and non-members.

We are also pushing hard to complete the beta testing program for 3.0 Mastering Edition. The doesn't mean that any support options will be removed, just that the current discussion threads will shift somewhat. It also doesn't mean that further program development will stop.

After release of 3.0 we will probably purchase a second, but linked, site for beta development of 4.0. Owners of 3.0 Mastering Edition would be automatically directed to that site, which would include all capabilities of the first site. These are details to be worked out later.

Hope this helps,

Larry
