Hello all!!!
I'm just starting to play with DVDAfterEdit and I figured a good place to start would be the tutorials. But I'm having some trouble following the Simple DVD Spec. Re-Authoring With DVDAfterEdit, Part 1 by Ben Weinrach.
In step 3 he says:
Select VMG PGC 1, and look at the "entry PGC" line in the right pane. Notice that it's grayed-out (therefore unavailable for editing) and is set to "yes."
This is not grayed out for me...it is set to yes but I can change it....strange.
But this is the weird part. Later in that step:
Now select VTSM PGC 1. Change "entry PGC" to "yes" and "Menu Type" to "root."
When I select VTSM PGC 1 I do not see an "entry PGC" option anywhere. I've completed the tutorial just skipping this step and the dvd will not play back.
I'm stuck and need help....please!!!!
Thanks in advance,
C
If you want screenshots I can add them.
Thx
The entry PGC is not your problem
Hi Chris,
I followed through the tutorial as far as your example, and notice that the program has changed slightly since the tutorial was written, but this will not have any effect on your work. The "entry PGC" popup was eliminated from VTSM PGC's because it was redundant. If you follow the remainder of the tutorial carefully it will work.
The entry PGC popup in the VMG is for choosing which PGC is to be executed with the user hits the Title key. Notice that if you have more than one VMG PGC, and choose "yes" on one PGC, and another PGC had already been designated as the entry PGC, its popup automatically changes to "no".
In the VTSM domain, however, the situation is more complex. There is a menu key on the remote, which will cause the player to execute the "root" menu. But there are also additional remote keys, sub-picture (subtitle), audio, angle, and chapter. If there is a menu corresponding to the key, the player will execute that menu instead of the default key action. Therefore having another popup is pointless, you must choose from a larger list of options. Notice again, that only one menu in a VTSM can have the same designation.
Because of the way domains work in DVD, only one Video Title Set is active at any given time, so the remote keys are always directed towards the current VTS.
Hope this helps,
Larry
