Real basic question

If I've written a project out to DLT from TFDVDEDit 3 and then done a complete compare on said tape can I be assured that everything is on the tape? It's just I recently did some work for a client and they have sent the tapes to the pressing plant and they say they are blank. I am doing a new set and doing a complete compare (which i didn't do last time) so need to be assured that I'm not going to send another blank set!!!!

I've obviously asked for the old set to be sent back to try and see if there is something I've done wrong in the initial set.

Hi Steve,

I like to restore the tape to a disk folder and play the result in Apple DVD player. Although compare is good, I just like to play what I've written to DLT.

What SCSI card and DLT drive did you use, and did TFDVDEdit format those blank tapes?

Thanks,

Trai

Hi Trai

Yes TFDVDEdit did do the original "blank" tapes (though we don't know for certain they are blank at the moment). I've written the new tapes out from TFDVDEDit as well.

Currently on a G4 with an Adaptec card (from which I have written several successful re-edits from TFDVDEdit before with no problems). I know you recommend a differnt card for G5's but I have been successfully using this with SP and 'Edit. May change when I get a G5 - what is the card you recommend for G5's?

I didn't think you could restore a disc image from 'Edit???

I'm sorry, but I have to discourage you to use an Adaptec card. They have worked for us on and off in a G4, depending on the current beta of 'edit. But finally we've bought the ATTO recommended here and all problems went away.

Best regards,

Uli

Right, so I have my Atto card on order and have a 7000 drive coming from Ebay (plus a back-up 4000 also from E-bay for the incredibly cheap price of
