Shuffle Continued...

Hi Ian,

Further to the post below.

As I understand it everything is as Trai listed.

1) The PGC needs to be non-sequential and in shuffle mode. (Or random depending on the requirements)

2) No chapters except the first PG. So only one PTT.

3) Cells are to be non-seamless.

4) PGC still time of 1 second.

5) No jump or call system space commands in the pre/post commands area of the shuffle PGC. So we need a multi PGC Title. The shuffle PGC Links to the dummy PGC and then the commands can take you away as normal.

6) Cell Still Time 0 (maybe 1 etc. if the PGC still time is not set)

I found that some players (Sony) have a problem with jump/call commands on the shuffle PGC while others don't.

With regards to the Apple DVD Player time. If the Cell Still Time is set to 0, the first PG will play and the remaining time with count down from that PG. If the PGC is 1 min, each PG 5 secs and the first to play is PG 12. The time remaining will be 5 secs as PG 12 starts at 55 secs. As the next PG plays the time remaining will be 'messed up'. This is not the case if the Cell Still Time is set to 1. The time remaining adjusts with each PG.

I'd like to be sure with about the PGC and cell still time settings too. Is the PGC still time of 1 sec a must for shuffle PGCs? and if that is the case then the quote "When a PGC still is set, any Cell Still of the Cell which has the possibility to be presented lastly in the PGC shall not be set" would seem to suggest the Cell Still Time should be 0(zero) as Trai said. As things really are random we have no idea which PG will be last in the cycle.

From the tests, all PGs played, no repeats and different order everytime when the cell still time was 0 and 1. I tested between 12 and 99 PGs in a PGC. I also tested various loop count settings which had no probs either.

Excellent, thanks ! So, if we leave cell still times as "0", there's no time display in set-tops ? Ie. the messed-up elapse times are just an Apple DVD-player issue ?

Well as it's not one-sequential PGC, the LCD info is not going to show on settop players regardless of the still time setting, right? I'm unsure if it's just an apple issue or all software based players! I was tweaking 99 PGs Cell Still Times etc and ran out of weekend... I'll pop a disc into one of my Win machines and check,
