When creating a new document that is restricted to a certain subset of the community, use the Access Control field to indicate which user groups are allowed to access the document.
- Public documents: if the document can be viewed by anyone, whether registered or not, leave the access control set to "none"
- To require that the visitor register (for free) and log in before viewing, select "Member"
- For pages such as code downloads, which are restricted to users with a specific license, choose the appropriate license (Lite, Standard or ME). If a page may be viewed by a user with any license, chose "License: any".
- Finally, Beta and/or Editor flags may be set if the material is available only to Beta testers or content editors (e.g., Ben, Larry, Donna)
You may select multiple groups. If a user's access permissions match any of the groups, they will be allowed access. So it is best to select the broadest group that has access to the information.
So, for example, if you set the "Member" flag, there is no need to set any of the other group flags, as all licensed users are members.
Please contact Donna if questions.
