Retrieving TIME CODE

Posted Jul 12,2005 1:57 PM LIBEO

We produce a big movie with MPEGAppend. Is it a software that can extract the different timecode of the different part of the movie. I think it is possible because if we import the movie in DVD SP, the software produce chapter corresponding of the different part.

Posted Jul 12,2005 3:44 PM Arky

MPEGAppend offers an option to place a DVD SP-compliant cell flag at the boundaries of each of the segments comprising an appended/concatenated stream. This doesn't necessarily mean that the timecode of each clip is being referenced, more that the segment joins are being acknowledged in the concatenated/appended stream. As I remarked in my tutorial on Seamless Multi-Story, I like the fact that MPEGAppend offers this 'flagging' feature to DVD SP users. It enables them to save time and improve accuracy, when dealing with multiple source clips in one Title Track, in instances where segment boundary markers are required.

Difference between DVD R and Mastered Dvd

Posted Jul 11,2005 8:59 AM LIBEO

Is it true that we can have differences between DVD R (or RW) and a Mastered DVD (A final DVD in the box). What kind of difference can appear between this twoo DVD.
When we produce a CDROM, the Mastered CDROM and the CDR are exactly the same, and you can't have bugs on the CDR that is not on the Mastered Edition. Why are these differences in the DVD.
Thank You

Animated button on VIDEO

We have a video with animated button, this button move at 12 image per second (half the rate of PAL). This button work very weel on all player only if we do not change colors between selected state and action state. Because of the mouvement of the button, the width and height of the button is 718 * 574. Some players can't change the colors of the button while this button move. Do we have to reduce the size of the bvutton area, or do you think that some players can change the colors of an animated button wich play at this rate.

Reading DDP files

Posted Jun 29,2005 4:44 PM JeremyJ

We have a need to read a DDP file (with .dat) and write it out to a Video_TS or DLT. I thought DVDAfterEdit would do that, but it doesn't seem to. Am I missing the feature? If not, does anybody know a Mac solution that will? Thanks.

Posted Jun 29,2005 5:08 PM Trai

Hi Jeremy,

Yes we can do that. Make sure your DDPID.DAT, CONTROL.DAT and IMAGE.DAT are in a "Layer 0" folder in another enclosing folder, and then we can bring it right on in.

Formatting tips for for eDVD DVDs

Posted Jun 29,2005 12:39 PM okeanos

[Re-Posting this from "Support Forum"]

Is there anything special I should be doing when I'm writing a DLT for a DVD that includes the eDVD ROM files (e.g. player installers, XML files, autorun.inf. images etc)? I'm specifically thinking about the ROM options in the tape output dialog.

Thanks in advance!

Send Test Projects, Please

Posted Jun 27,2005 5:03 PM larryapple

One of the biggest impediments to "perfecting" DVDAfterEdit has been a lack of test projects. Since the DVD Spec is so flexible, there are a tremendous number of ways to author DVD's, and each authoring system does it differently, and in a Spec Authoring system like Scenarist each author does it differently. And DVD's have such an impossibly large amount of data they are too big to download.

Cell striding 3rd sector ?!

Posted Jun 27,2005 6:33 AM ChrisMD

Currently I'm working on a DVD with 160 Tracks that are seamlessly connected in one Title-Entry PGC and are playable one by one from other Titles and they appear a third time only as cells in another title. I rearanged the tracks by adding the tracks as cells to the still menus from where they should be played. From the Video-Cells I jump back to the first cell (the menu) using a cell command.

hi ! I want to change forced subtitles to non forced subtitles.
Where can I find it on TFDVDEdit3 b31 ?

Thanx !

Hi Synergy,

Unfortunately the forced subtitle flags are in the subtitles themselves, and not available for post-authoring. You must go back to your authoring system and set the flags.

Program Name is changing to DVDAfterEdit

Posted Jun 22,2005 11:58 PM larryapple

1. The official program name is now changing to DVDAfterEdit Mastering Edition. It is still in beta, and the program name as stored on the disk will be DVDAfterEdit 3.0b32, etc., for now. The full name shows in the about box. The next (soon) beta release will incorporate the name change.

2. A lower-priced version of the program will soon be released, named DVDAfterEdit Pro. It will be priced at $449. This version will not support Pre-Mastering nor Seamless Branching. It will be released after a very short beta cycle with a few selected users, since it does not introduce any new code but only omits other code. Ben Weinrach and Ian Shepherd are assisting with beta testing and reviewing the new Tracer documentation and tutorial. When we are satisfied with Tracer and a very few outstanding known bugs are fixed, DVDAfterEdit Pro will be released.
