Seamless Branching Beta

Seamless Branching Beta Forum Archived

DVDAfterEdit's SMS development was officially put on hold almost a year ago. We have therefore decided to archive this forum. Please contact us if you would like to discuss any aspect of this subject.

Larry, is there a simple way to convert an old tfdvdedit.com thread number into a new dvdafteredit.com node number ? It would make the searching for these easier !

removing the first play menu

I am using a domestic Panasonic DVD recorder to record the timeline from Final Cut Pro so that I can issue DVD discs at a moments notice to my clients.
The recording is therefore made in real time and actually at very good picture quality.
After finalising the disc, our users immediatly watch the DVD on there laptops.

SMS Beta Program is Suspended

Hi Everyone,

Crash 3.0.4d2

Tyring to open a DVD with a title that uses seamless branching as done by another authoring application. Here's the trace for Thread 0:

Date/Time: 2006-05-19 06:55:54.100 -0700
OS Version: 10.4.2 (Build 8C46)
Report Version: 3

Command: DVDAfterEdit SMS
Path: /Users/laz/Desktop/DVDAfterEdit SMS
Parent: WindowServer [56]

No luck for me either...

Unfortunately I have to report that the recent beta isn't working for me either. I'm using a fresh build of a setup that re-interleaves fine with TFDVDEdit 3.0 beta 17 and plays well in my tests.

With new version when opening the VIDEO_TS folder I get this assert:

VBR vs. CBR

Interesting quote from the Tully list. This is from Ray Wallick, a CCE distributor. It relates to multi-angle material, but the implications for SMS are interesting:

First, let's look at some parameter settings and constraints in encoding for
Multi-Angle Video.

* All video streams must be encoded using a closed GOP pattern.

Seamless Branching Beta

Now that we are getting very few bug reports from the bread and butter applications of DVDAfterEdit, perhaps it is time to revisit Seamless Branching, aka Seamless Multi-Story, to see if perhaps some Authoring application(s) might produce usable multiplexed assets under some known conditions.
