Hi
I received a DLT from a client, which I have to modify (tear apart, add subtitles, the works).
The problem is I did an extraction to Disk Folder, which doesn't seem to work: at Play time, it will show the logo
the FBI screen, but when it goes to the main menu, DVD Player quits.
Checking on the paper log that came with the DLT, I find it says:
CSS keys to be added (DLT is unscrambled. CSS keys will be applied during mastering)
Obviously, it is flagged for encryption.
How should I go about it to end up with a playable Disk Folder?
TIA and best regards
Disc Image
Hi Enrique,
Yes, that will be fine. You can mail it to:

Disc Image ok?
Larry, this is justa a DVD5, and one of the extractions I made from the DLT was as a Disc Image. Would that be ok for you? I can send it in just one DVD-R. Please provide me the adress to mail it.
Best to you
Enrique
DVDAE is supposed to reset all encryption flags
Hi Enrique,
When reading from a DLT, we clear all of the CSS and macrovision flags, so perhaps that process failed somehow. The workflow you ended up with sounds very complicated, so it would be difficult to determine anything from afar.
If you could send me the DLT, or extract the DLT to a tape image and send me the image on one or two DVD-R data discs (depending on number of layers), I could take a look at it.

Larry
Tracer OK, DVD player crashes
Hi Larry
There's something weird with this non-encryption issue: Apple DVD crashes with this message: "The disc copy protection could not ve verified. The disc cannot be played(-70025)". Tracer didn't crash, so I went and recorded the VIDEO_TS folder with Toast as DVD Video from VIDEO_TS folder anyway.
I then played it on the PC using PowerDVD with no problems (It even played the original VIDEO_TS on the hard drive that made the Apple DVD player crash).
I then tried to rip the assets from the burnt DVD using Smart Ripper (Both Cinematize Mac and PC version would say that the VTS was encrypted), and it kept looking for the CCS key in an endless loop.
I aborted, changed the settings in Smart Ripper to Don't decrypt and everything was ok, I was able to extract the assets, and captured the static menus using Power DVD.
What could have happened to make this so tricky? Looks as if something was showing encryption when encryption had never really been there...
just the flags for the replicator.
Best regards
It is not encrypted
Hi Enrique,
Though it is flagged for encryption, that will not affect it, and it should extract correctly. Perhaps you had a hardware problem with the extraction, or the DLT is flawed.
First you should try a compare, to make sure it reads the same twice. Be sure to select the folder as the source, and compare to the tape. (The other way around doesn't work properly).
If that's OK and it still won't play, try using Tracer to see where it crashes. Please let us kinow.
Regards,
Larry
